AURELEO:

Austrian users at LEONARDO supercomputer

Austria owns a share of the Italian pre-exascale HPC system LEONARDO operated by CINECA since it is a partner in the consortium that has built the machine.

Austrian users (or more specifically, applicants affiliated with academic and/or research institutions in Austria) are encouraged to take the opportunity to apply for compute time at LEONARDO via the national AURELEO – Austrian users at LEONARDO supercomputer – Calls.

AURELEO Booster (GPU partition) Calls

LEONARDO's so-called Booster module draws its enormous computing power from four NVIDIA Ampere GPUs per node. Applicants have to be affiliated with academic and/or research institutions in Austria and hold a funded and peer-reviewed project with one of the recognized funding agency, such as FWF, FFG, ÖAW, WWTF, ERC, EU, etc., that runs at least through the entire AURELEO project.

• AURELEO Booster 2026
  Projects run time: 2026-07-10 – 2027-07-10
  Call is closed, all resources are allocated.

• AURELEO Booster 2025
  Projects run time: 2025-07-01 – 2026-07-01
  Call is closed, all resources are allocated.

• AURELEO Booster 2024
  Projects run time: 2024-08-01 – 2025-08-01
  Call is closed, all resources are allocated.

AURELEO DCGP (CPU partition) Calls

LEONARDO's so-called DCGP (Data-Centric General-Purpose) partition consists of Intel Sapphire Rapids CPUs. Active ASC users in non-commercial projects can get test access (up to 1 million core hours per project at maximum, but it depends on the number of requests) via a joint "DCGP Austria" project.
