VSC-3: maintenance of pump modules of the cooling system

Maintenance of the pump modules which are part of the cooling system of VSC-3 will be performed in the period February 1-5, 2016.

During this time the systems (compute nodes and switches) located in the containers attached to a particular pump module will have to be powered off for several hours at a time, while work is being performed on the module.

Please take care that important jobs are finished or checkpointed.

Login to VSC-3 and submission of batch jobs will be possible to a limited extent.

User access to VSC-3 during the maintenance period February 1-5, 2016, is according to this approximate schedule:

• Please note: Jobs that are still running on the 1st of February might die, because of necessary shutdowns of nodes and switches during the maintenance work.

• all week: interrupts in infiniband network connectivity and limited access to compute nodes

• Monday: login nodes and data are accessible
• Tuesday: no access to data and login nodes
• Wednesday,Thursday: login nodes and data are accessible
• Friday: resume normal operation

Friday, February 5, 2016, 15:20:
Maintenance work has been finished and normal operation has been resumed. Logging in and job submission is possible again.
