SHAPE project with Reintrieb
VSC is supporting Reintrieb to optimize their new side-by-side propulsion system with the help of High-Performance Computing (HPC).
We are happy to announce that the Austrian
PRACE partner VSC Research Center of TU Wien was selected to support
Reintrieb who recently got funding from the
SHAPE 13th Call.
Due to climate change, rivers are increasingly affected by low-water periods that disrupt cargo and passenger transportation. Reintrieb, an Austrian cleantech company specializing in decarbonized propulsion systems, has invented and patented an efficient, climate-friendly drive to enable ships to navigate at lower water levels. The company now got funding from SHAPE to optimise the product with the help of a supercomputer.
SHAPE is a pan-European programme run by PRACE that helps SMEs to adopt High-Performance Computing (HPC). The programme aims to raise awareness and equip European SMEs with the expertise necessary to take advantage of the innovation possibilities opened up by High-Performance Computing (HPC), thus increasing their competitiveness. Within this SHAPE project, Reintrieb gets help from HPC experts as well as access to the supercomputer VSC-4. The team will carry out Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations to fundamentally model the effect of the various variables on the drive’s efficiency and to determine an optimal arrangement and shape of its components.
EuroCC Austria, with its mission to facilitate access to HPC infrastructure and know-how, serves as a first contact point for academia, industries, and public administration in Austria. It will connect those in need of HPC, Big Data Analytics, or Artificial Intelligence with the appropriate experts and providers of HPC resources. With its national and international contacts, EuroCC Austria will also help in finding an appropriate funding for pilot studies and/or HPC access on a national or European level.
