Insight into VSC-5 — a video by Megware

A detailed look at the new supercomputer of the Vienna Scientific Cluster featuring CPU, GPU, and direct cooling.

VSC-5 was born at the headquarters of Opens external link in new windowMegware in Chemnitz, Germany. The company won the tender to manufacture the fifth generation of the Vienna Scientific Cluster (VSC) family in 2021. In 2022, after delays affected by global supply challenges, the installation of VSC-5 in the Science Center Arsenal of TU Wien in Vienna was complete and in September the new system was officially inaugurated and opened to users.

To celebrate the launch of VSC-5, Megware shared a Opens external link in new windowvideo that provides many interesting insights into the new system. Take a look to learn more about the cluster’s architecture featuring CPU, GPU, and energy-efficient direct cooling, meet people involved in the manufacturing of VSC-5, and find out how scientists use the VSC infrastructure and what problems it helps them to solve.
