Austria joins PRACE

From 11 July 2018 Austria is a member of PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe).

Opens external link in new window PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe) is a Research Infrastructure (RI) that allows researchers from across Europe to apply for time on high-performance computers from a series of hosting nations via a central peer review process. Additionally, support for code development and optimisation by experts amongst the PRACE RI members can be applied for. In addition, PRACE has an extensive education and training effort for effective use of the RI through seasonal schools, workshops and scientific and industrial seminars throughout Europe.

Austria will be a PRACE member from 11 July 2018 (actually Austria is re-joining PRACE since Austria had already been a PRACE member before until 31 December 2016). Within PRACE Austria will be represented by the ACOnet (Austrian Academic Computer Network) Association. The Council Delegate will be Univ.-Prof. Mag. Dr. Christoph Dellago (University of Vienna) and the Council Advisor will be Univ. Prof. Dr. Alexander Ostermann (University of Innsbruck).
